The family of Thomas Joseph Carling is saddened to announce his sudden passing at 70 years of age on January 16th, 2023 after a brief illness.
Tom was born on March 10th, 1952 to Walter and Pearl (Laforce) Carling, setting a record for the biggest baby (to date) born at the Buckingham, Quebec hospital. Tom continued to make a big impression on people throughout his life, in particular the love of his life Catherine McLeod, whom he married in November of 1974.
Tom retired in 2002 from his career as the manager of parks and trees for the City of Ottawa and continued to work on the small family business with his sons Ryan and Jesse on their beloved homestead in Mulgrave, QC.
Tom enjoyed socializing with his many friends, fishing, and hosting tours around Lac La Blanche on his pontoon boat. He always had time to lend a hand, share his vast knowledge, and to laugh and tell stories.
Tom is survived by his wife Cathy, sons Ryan (Angie) and Jesse (Mary), grandchildren Reese and Jack, his siblings Gail (Dan) and Terry, extended family and countless friends.
A celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 28th 2023, 3:00 pm, at the Hill & Gully Riders Club on Inlet Road in Mulgrave QC.

We send out deepest sympathies to all of you at this time.
Memories of Tom will forever be embedded in my heart from sitting on the porch at the farmhouse, hunting in the fall and will always remember the trout pond where we spent many days after work. Knowing I lost my own father as a teenager, I found guidance and support as I would have my own father with your family.
Cathy, you Thomas and your boys treated me like one of your own that I was honored to have Tom stand in our wedding and naming our own son Thomas. Could have never thanked him enough for all he’s done from friends, carrier to fatherhood.
You Will always be in my heart, We will miss you tremendously.
Rest in Peace Pa…
Glen, Christine, Thomas & Ella-Ann

My heart aches for Cath, Ryan, Ange, Reese, Jack, Jesse and Mary … I love you all so much. The memories will never fade and will last forever. Tom was without doubt a special soul – had the most dry sense of wicked humour – always a story to tell – and an incredible knowledge of his beloved Mulgrave and Derry. I can only imagine Tom and Bob leaning on the Pearly Gates with a brew in their hands getting caught up. Dear Lord – wash-out!! RIP dear friend ….
